Baruch Atah Adonai Eloheinu melech

Blessed are You, Eternal G–d, sovereign of
the universe, who gives us bread from the earth.

Baruch Atah Adonai Eloheinu melech ha’olam, asher
kidshanu b’mitzvotav, v’tzivanu al achilat matzah.

Blessed are You, Eternal G–d, sovereign of the universe,
who sanctifies us with the commandment to eat matzah.*

As we take our first bite of matzah, we keep in mind those
for whom even the bread of affliction would be a luxury.

*Traditionally the matzah blessing is only recited on the first two nights of Passover.
